The importance of nylon films in the packaging industry is based on their high mechanical strength, excellent thermoforming characteristics, heat resistance and sterilisation capability and their very good barrier properties against gases, in particular oxygen and flavours. The good thermoforming properties of cast nylon films in particular enable the production of stable, sales-promoting and therefore economic packaging. Other areas also offer interesting applications for cast nylon films, as mono- or multi-layer films, due to their special properties profile. In combination with polyethylene (PE), the main application of nylon films, this produces an ideal flexible material for vacuum packaging of foodstuffs such as sausage, cheese, ham, fish, peanuts and other foods sensitive to oxygen.

Properties and applications
Cast nylon film PA 6 is used, generally in combination with PE or other polymers, for flexible and thermoformable multi-layer films. The PA layer in the multi-layer film performs the function of a gas and aroma barrier, and gives the composite thermoforming properties, together with mechanical strength.
The main areas of application include vacuum packaging of foodstuffs such as meat, sausage and cheese. These films are also coming into increasing use in the non-food area. In the chemicaltechnical field, many interesting applications exist for PA or PA/PE multi-layer films, thanks to their special properties profile, e.g. release film for SMC pre-pregs and roof membranes.
Other application examples include: for vacuum-packed chemicals, inner liners for fibre drums, technical products which must be protected against corrosion and for medical equipment.

Cast nylon film PA 6 possesses the typical polyamide properties such as good chemical resistance, high abrasion resistance, good slip properties and high tensile strength, coupled with good expansion/stretch properties. Cast nylon film PA 6 offers excellent tear and tear propagation resistance. Sterilisation with the aid of hot steam, ethylene oxide or gamma radiation ensures totally sterile packaging.

Cast Polyamid-Folie PA 6 besitzt die typischen Polyamideigenschaften wie gute Chemikalienbeständigkeit, hohe Abriebfestigkeit und gute Gleiteigenschaften neben hoher Zugfestigkeit bei großer Dehnung. Cast Polyamid-Folie PA 6 hat eine ausgezeichnete Ein- und Weiterreißfestigkeit. Eine Sterilisation mit Hilfe von Heißdampf, Ethylenoxid oder Gammastrahlen gewährleistet eine keimfreie Verpackung.
